Thank you for being a part of our brand new group, the Arrowhead Hiking Club!!

We have had a few hikes now, and we’re excited for what we have planned now through the month of January 2026!!!.

There are two hikes in the next week or so, the first is Friday at 4pm, November 7th. We’ll be hiking the East Wing Mountain Trail in Sonoran Mountain Ranch.

We’ll be back in Thunderbird again on Saturday, November 15th, when we’ll be hiking the Sunrise Summit Trail. Details below on both hikes.

East Wing Mountain Trail - Sonoran Mountain Ranch

Hike Details:

  • Friday, November 7th, 2025 4pm start

  • East Wing Mountain Trail (click for All Trails info)

    • 1.8 miles, including the walk from the park parkinglot

    • 433 feet of elevation gain

    • Up & back, with a bit of a loop

    • Approximately 1 hours long

  • This trail is rated MODERATE on the difficulty scale. There are a couple of stretches that are quite steep.

  • Meet at the parking lot of the Sonoran Mountain Ranch Park. (map)

    • There are restrooms at the park.

  • Bring plenty of water, wear appropriate clothing & shoes

Trail description: Eastwing Mountain is a lightly travelled trail in Peoria that has both moderate and difficult hiking options. The difficult option is a rock scramble up. On the moderate trail you will have to go down the rock portion to complete the loop. There is a beautiful 360 degree view from the top of Peoria and the surrounding area.

Sunrise Summit Trail - Thunderbird Conservation Park

Hike Details:

  • Saturday, November 15th, 2025 8am start

  • Sunrise Summit Trail (click for All Trails info)

    • 1.5 miles, can be longer by adding a different route back to parking lot.

    • 324 feet of elevation gain

    • Up & back, or a loop

    • Approximately 1 hours long

  • This trail is rated MODERATE on the difficulty scale.

  • Meet at the south parking lot In the main portion of Thunderbird Conservation Park. (map)

    • There are restrooms nearby

  • Bring plenty of water, wear appropriate clothing & shoes
